Willmott Dixon are bringing 37 new homes for Kensington and Chelsea council, under the new homes delivery program. After working closely with the Willmott Dixon team, they notified us that they required a 2 hour fire rated mailbox solution for their development, that also ensured compliance with Secured by Design guidelines in Homes 2022, by utilising an airlock system in their buildings. They wanted a through the wall mail solution to post externally and receive mail internally that in case of a fire would maintain the walls integrity for up to 2 hours allowing residents time and space to evacuate.

Our Team’s approach was to manufacture, supply and install our fully compliant through-the-wall 120 minute Fire Rated FR3 mailboxes in Black (RAL 9005). FR3 mailboxes are fully fire rated to BS EN 1363-1 tested by Warringtonfire to maintain the walls integrity for 2 hours. These mailboxes are an in front, out rear solution, allowing a postal worker to enter to post mail through the front of the mailboxes recessed in Airlock 1, then the residents could retrieve mail through the back of the boxes in Airlock 2.

Residents of this development can now access their mail 24/7 safely and comfortably within the property. With these mailboxes being in front – out rear, this allows no unwanted access into the development, adding an extra level of safety. Residents can now have peace of mind that the development has opted for a fire rated solution that will stop the spread of a fire, allowing residents time to evacuate in an emergency.
