The Safety Letterbox Company work with housing developers and managing companies on a daily basis providing secure communal mailboxes and post boxes for apartments. With over 130 different mailboxes in the standard range, both individual and multiple mailboxes can be designed and supplied to meet the requirements of each individual projects.
Communal mailboxes typically take the form of a bank of secure post boxes installed into the opening lobby area of a project. Depending on the quantity required by a client and the amount of available space, mailboxes are generally either wall recessed, wall mounted or through the wall.
Wall Recessed Mailboxes
Wall recessing mailboxes allows for a flush fitting with the installation wall but prior work must be carried out to accommodate the mailboxes in the wall. Wall recessing communal postboxes allows for more space in the lobby area and will not obstruct a fire evacuation route.
Mailboxes can also be partially recessed into the wall, reducing the amount of mailbox protruding from the wall but catering for walls with a restricted depth. Both horizontal and vertical mailboxes are available to suit different wall depths.

Through The Wall Mailboxes
Many clients require banks of through the wall mailboxes for in front / out back processing of mail from an external to internal location. This is a popular choice for communal properties where the front entrance door is securely locked and the management do not want to provide an entry key or code to the postal delivery worker. The postal delivery worker will deposit the mail items into the external side of the mailbox which securely stores the deposited items until the recipient retrieves them on the internal side of the mailbox.
Clients commonly combine through the wall communal mailboxes with an already integrate door entry system, allowing for postage of mail and securing the property entrance at the same time. Door entry systems can be provided by us here at The Safety Letterbox Company or feature cut-outs can be accommodated into the panel for retrospective installation on location.

COM 3 Mailbox
The COM 3 mailbox is an in front / out back item that is typically used for through the wall postage of mail from external to internal locations. Items deposited in the mailbox are securely stored until later retrieval on the internal side of the product.

Mailforce 1 Mailbox
The Mailforce 1 Telescopic Mailbox is a sloping mail chute that accepts mail at the front of the box and allows for retrieval at the rear of the box. The use of a mail chute in an external wall allows for mail to be processed without the need for access to be granted to the building.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many communal mailboxes can I fit into the available space?
We have designed and developed a comprehensive range of over 130 unique mailboxes to accommodate every single project requirement. Included in this range are both the horizontal and vertical type mailboxes which are the main two collections of mailboxes we offer:
Horizontal Mailboxes (longer width, shorter height)
Horizontal mailboxes are generally more suited to projects for a combination of the following:
- A large amount of mailboxes are required in a relatively small area
AND - If wall recessing, a relatively large wall depth of around 360mm or bigger is available to fit the mailboxes in to.
OR - If wall mounting, the installation area space can easily accommodate a bank of mailboxes fitted on to the wall
Vertical Mailboxes (shorter width, taller height)
Horizontal mailboxes are generally more suited to projects for a combination of the following:
- A small amount of mailboxes are required
AND - If wall recessing, the wall depth is relatively shallow with a dimension of less than 360mm
OR - If wall mounting, the installation area space is relatively restricted and would not accommodate a bank of mailboxes extending from the wall.
